XperiDo and Smart Flows Comparison

The following comparison table that provides an overview of how XperiDo's features carry over to Smart Flows.

XperiDo Component

Smart Flows Component

Comparison

Management Console

Project Console

The Project Console is now in a separate tab instead of in CRM and offers a whole new world of possibilities. We bundled all of the configurations in the Project Console and made everything much more user-friendly.

Template Design Add-in

Template Builder

The Template Builder is the new name, but this part has undergone the least change. Some of the new features are pseudo-relations and new ways to open and transfer templates.

The place where end users in CRM generate documents

Flow Execution Panel

We gave this a name, and this is now the place where end users execute their flows.

Configuring CRM, SharePoint, and Docusign in the XBintegrator Administrator Console

Connectors

Connectors are a user-friendly way of defining a connection to an external system. You can manage connectors from the Project Console.

Promotion

Import/Export

The Import/Export functionalities replace XperiDo's promotion but achieve the same thing. This can now be done directly from the Project Console, significantly increases user-friendliness.

Languages

Languages

The concept is the same, but it's easier to configure now. We replaced the language lookup table in XperiDo with aliases. You can no longer set the language lookup table (or aliases) in the Word add-in, this function is completed in the Project Console.

Tags, markers

Tag groups + tags

Markers from XperiDo Nucleus are the same as the new tag groups + tags system in Smart Flows. With tags and tag groups, there are more possibilities. You can now tag templates and data sets (in addition to flows) for faster sorting and searching .

Assets

Assets

Assets are expanded in the Smart Flows. Instead of only being able to add images, you can now add files and documents as assets. The XperiDo Assets manager is no longer in Word, but directly accessible from Assets in the Project Console, with more options and a more user-friendly experience.

Data sets (CRM)

Standard data sets

Data sets (CRM) are now called standard data sets. The builder has been revamped, but the functionality is similar.

Data sets (Nucleus) Schema data sets

Data sets (Nucleus) are now called schema data sets, from XSD = XML Schema Definition. You can now call a web service to populate your data set with data.

Samples

Samples

Samples are revamped in a few ways:

Samples are automatically updated if you use a record for a sample (this was the only option for a sample in XperiDo for CRM). The only place you will have to refresh is in the Word add-in.

You can now copy samples in Word and edit the local copy (excellent for testing conditions). You can then publish the sample so that it's available for everyone in your project.

Templates

Templates

Templates are still templates, but with a few differences. You can now attach multiple data sets to a template. There are no more template output settings as this is now done in flows.

Body segment, header segment, footer segment, insert segment, e-mail templates

Standard template

There are only 2 types of templates now, and all of these segments (and e-mail templates) have become standard templates. You can insert these in any zone as a composition.

Composition master, multipart template, body segment group

Composition

There are only 2 types of composition templates now: composition master/multipart/body segment group templates all become compositions. You can now add conditions to compositions like you already could in XperiDo Nucleus.

Template output settings

Flows

Flows replace the template output settings from XperiDo. Flows are an incredibly powerful concept that you can make as simple or complex as you like. There are too many improvements to describe, please read up on flows to learn more.

Dynamic fields

Custom data set fields

You can now define custom data sets with fields that are just like dynamic fields. The advantage is you can bundle them together in a data set and attach that data set to as many templates as you like, making the "new dynamic fields" re-usable and thus more maintainable.

Printers

Printers

Printers are expanded, as they are now "printer + printer settings," and thus, one physical printer can have multiple printers in Smart Flows and each printer can have its own settings.

Users (CRM)

Connected users

Users are still synced by checking their security roles in CRM, but you now have more control over this process. You can now use your CRM login to log in to Smart Flows in both the Project Console and the Flow Execution Panel.

Users (Nucleus)

Native users

Users (Nucleus) are now called Native users.

Workflows

Workflows

Workflows were completely rebuilt. All steps were scrapped and replaced with the run flow and flow output. You now run a flow in a workflow and put all the steps you want in your flow.

E-signing

E-signing (flow block)

This is still the same, although the flow blocks for e-signing offer a few more options.

Storing in SharePoint

Storing in SharePoint (flow block)

This has been expanded dramatically through the options in the flow block. Quite a few customizations we made for XperiDo were for custom SharePoint saving, and some of these can now be done through the flow block.

E-mailing

E-mail (flow block)

This is still the same, but now it is in the flow block, with a few more options. You can now easily add multiple attachments, for instance. There's also e-mailing from SMTP.
